Amy’s Day Care Home
Policies and Procedures
Absences
There will be no refunds or adjustments made to your childcare fee for your time missed due to illness, holidays, doctors appointments, or days off. You are paying for your contracted spot.
Holidays
I will be closed for the following holidays:
* New Year’s Day *Memorial Day *4th of July *Labor Day
*Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving *Christmas Eve & Christmas Day
There is no payment for these holidays.
Any other holiday I remain open for, you are expected to pay in full whether your child is here or not. These include, but not limited to, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Valentine’s Day, and Halloween.
Vacations
Parents will be allotted 1 week of unpaid vacation annually and must notify me at least 1 week in advance or your regular rate will apply. (More notice is greatly appreciated) There is no charge when a child is on vacation, providing a 1-week notice has been given. If no notice is given and child does not come to Daycare, you are still responsible for full payment of that week. The twelve months following the child‘s enrollment is considered the annual year for these purposes. After your child has used his/her allotted week (equal to number of calendar days in care for 1 week) of vacation time you will be expected to pay full rates for the remainder of the year. Your child must be in care for 2 months before being able to receive vacation.
Provider Vacation
Each calendar year I will be closed 2 weeks for my personal vacations. Parents will be given as much advance notice as possible, with a minimum of 3 weeks notice when I plan my vacations. No payment is required for provider’s vacations. I will be closed the week of Christmas break, sometimes this is more than one week. I will give notice by December 1 of the year the actual dates I will be closed. This will be used as one of my Vacation weeks.
Supplies
*One complete change of clothing, including underwear and socks, appropriate for the weather, to be kept at the day care. Soiled clothing will be sent home and a clean change needs to be brought back the next day of care.
*Proper outerwear for outside play. We will spend sometime outside daily unless weather is inclement. Please be sure your child has all necessary items each day: hat, mittens, snow pants, boots and coats, for example. If they are too sick to go outside, they are too sick to be at daycare.
*Baby/Infant care items: Formula/Breast Milk, Diapers, Burp Cloths, Baby Food, Ointments, Etc.
Toilet Training
I will be glad to assist you when your child is ready to enter the toilet training phase. I ask that you spend 1-2 weeks working with your child at home, before we begin the process at daycare. You will need to provide at least one complete change of clothing, including socks, and an adequate supply of pull-ups or plastic lined training pants for your child. Pull-ups or plastic lined training pants are required until the child is completely toilet trained. Clothing for this stage should be selected for easy on and off. Unfortunately, the state does not allow childcare establishments to rinse out soiled clothes because they feel that it may cause the spread of germs. If you choose to use plastic lined pants, any soiled clothing will be sent home in a Ziploc baggie for you to wash.
Illness Policy
Under no circumstances will parents be allowed to bring a sick child to my home. Sick children expose other children, as well as my family, and myself to the spreading of their illness and require additional care and attention that I am unable to give. Sick children want care from their parents in the comfort of their own homes where mom or dad can give them the attention they need when ill. As a mom I understand kids get colds and I have no problem with colds, but please follow the guidelines below when bringing your child to my house for care.
Symptoms Requiring Removal of Child from Childcare
* Fever- temperature over 100 degrees taken orally. A child needs to be fever free for a minimum of 12 hours before returning to childcare; that means fever free without the aid of Tylenol or any other fever reducer.
* Diarrhea – No diarrhea for 24 hours.
* Nausea
* Vomiting – No vomiting for 24 hours.
* Contagious Conditions (measles, lice, chicken pox, etc.)
* Pink-Eye – Crusty eyes with yellow/green drainage – must be seen by doctor and return with a doctor’s note stating that treatment is being given and no longer contagious.
* Unexplained Rash - Must have doctor’s note stating that treatment is being given or is not required and is not contagious.
*If your child becomes ill during the day, you will be notified immediately to pick up your child. You or someone on the Emergency list needs to pick up your child within 60 minutes of notification. If you cannot be reached then your emergency contacts will be called.
*If your child is out ill regular fees still apply. I reserve the right to determine when a child should be sent home due to illness. Children may return to care 24 hours after symptoms of illness end or with written authorization from your doctor stating the name of illness and when child may return to daycare. Please notify me as soon as possible when your child becomes ill so that I may notify the other parents.
*Children requiring prescription medication for a contagious illness must stay home until cleared by a Dr. I need written proof by the doctor stating the child is no longer contagious and may return to daycare.
*If someone in my family has any of the above symptoms, I will call you the previous evening, or as soon as I am aware of the situation, so that you may determine whether or not you want your child exposed to such symptoms. However, I reserve the right to ask you to make other arrangements if I feel the illness in my family will hinder the quality of care for your child. If I specifically request that you find alternate care on any given day, then I will not require payment. I do not expect to be paid when I am not available for care due to illness.
*There are times when a child is not that ill, but is terribly uncomfortable, and really needs some “one on one”. At those times I strongly urge you to consider keeping your child at home. If your child is unable to participate in the normal activities of the daily schedule, then your child must stay at home.
Parents As Teachers
I participate in many Haysville Parents As Teachers activities. I have found this to be a great experience for myself, my day care parents and the children I care for.
We go to the Haysville Parents As Teachers building up to 3 times a week for Move and Groove, Explorer Lab and Playgroup.
Monday-Move and Groove incorporates music, movement, instrument exploration and fun while kids are learning language and listening skills.
Wednesday-Explorer Lab is designed to give kids hands-on experiences in science, cooking, and math and will incorporate language and literature activities.
Friday-Playgroup is an opportunity for your child to practice and learn social and problem-solving skills.
Trips
When the weather allows we try to go various places during the week including the park and library.
Items from home
Please leave all toys and such items at home. I can not be responsible for such items. I will allow a lovie or special blanket to be brought but it is to be used for napping purposes. If your child wishes to bring a movie or video to share please ask before doing so that I can approve it.
Items provided for Infants
I can provide Parent’s Choice formula, baby food, and wipes.
It is the parent’s responsibility to provide diapers and at least one change of clothes.
Food Program
I participate in the Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP). It is a program that allows day care providers the opportunity for reimbursement through the USDA nutrition education program for the meals that they serve. There is also an enrollment form that will need to be completed.
